For Example…
Jake Stone, like always, returned home late after work. He didn't know that during the day the National Weather Service reported a critically high water level. Unfortunately, Jake didn't keep track of news reports because of his day at work- he worked double shifts at a small store next to his house. He's always really tired, so he sometimes misses important messages.
At about 2 a.m. the same night he received an extreme alert to his phone of a flood that started. Jake started panicking, he didn't understand what was happening! Suddenly, he remembered his friend's words:
The day that Jake downloaded the app, he learned that the service provides access to maps with safe routes based off of NASA's satellite data. If the streets become flooded, you can use these routes to safely arrive at the official shelters that the app provides.
But now he didn't have time to think about this -- he looked out the window and was shocked: the neighboring street was flooded, there were branches from a nearby park floating down the street, along with some garbage. A few more minutes, and the water will be at his porch! "I need to get out of the house!" — was Jake's first thought. "But where?" — now he stopped himself and understood that he shouldn't let his panic take over. He opened the app once more: he saw a choice of the closest shelters, and the safest routes to them based on the location of the water.
The only place left for Jake to go to was the railway overpass — one of the few raised places around the city, about which he probably wouldn't have remembered if it wasn't for the app. He hopped into his car and quickly pulled out of the garage.
A few minutes later, he pulled up under the overpass. He got out of his car, shoes squelching on the wet ground. He somehow climbed up to the overpass, nodded to the only two people that were already there, wet from the rain. There was nowhere to sit, and the only option was to lean on a stone, which he did. A thought echoed in his head again and again: "I made it. I survived."
